Treatment with neurotoxin A is often used to relieve muscle tension and spasms that can be caused by various medical conditions. These include muscle spasms in neurological conditions such as cerebral palsy, back pain or migraine. Injecting botox into the affected muscles temporarily blocks the release of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine, which normally triggers muscle contractions. This blockade causes the muscles to relax and the associated pain and tension are relieved.
Another area of application for treatment with botox is aesthetic medicine. Here it is used to reduce wrinkles and fine lines on the face. By injecting botox into certain facial muscles, muscle activity is reduced, smoothing wrinkles and making the skin appear younger and firmer.
In our detailed initial consultation, we take the time to get to know your individual wishes and ideas and present you with various treatment options. If you decide to have the treatment, it can usually be carried out directly after a medical consultation.
The procedure consists of injecting botox precisely into the facial muscles that are responsible for the formation of wrinkles. This gently weakens the muscles, making the skin look more relaxed and smoother. This type of treatment is particularly suitable for treating forehead wrinkles, the frown line, laugh lines, crow’s feet or fine lines on the upper lip. When used early, botox can also help prevent the wrinkles from becoming more deeply imprinted by being used prophylactically.
The treatment involves injecting neurotoxin A (botox) into the relevant facial muscles or muscle groups. There it temporarily blocks the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter responsible for muscle contractions. This causes the treated muscles to relax, which leads to a smoothing of wrinkles and relief of muscle tension.
The results of treatment with neurotoxin A usually set in after a few days and reach full effect within about two weeks. The effect lasts for about three to six months, depending on the patient’s individual response, before a booster is recommended.
There is usually no downtime after the treatment. Most patients can resume their usual activities immediately. It is recommended not to massage heavily or irritate the treated areas for the first few hours after treatment.
Treatment with Neurotoxin A is temporary, so it should be repeated every three to six months to maintain the desired results. However, the individual frequency of treatment may vary and should be discussed with us.
